Bitumen Number 30

Bitumen No. 30 Definition

Bitumen 30 is a soft grade of blown asphalt with softening point of 30+5 and softening point approx. 70C and it is available in bag and drum but in summer time it is risky to take it in the bag due to leakage of bitumen 30 inside of the container. Bitumen Number 30 is producing by bitumen #60 and after heating up and lost 5% of total weight the first grade of oxidized bitumen is Number 30.

Key Characteristics:
Penetration: 30/40 indicates a relatively hard bitumen, suitable for hot climates where softer bitumens may melt or deform.
Applications: Commonly used in paving roads, asphalt production, and waterproofing in construction.
Properties: Offers excellent adhesion, high durability, and resistance to water, making it suitable for heavy traffic areas and infrastructure projects.
It is produced by refining crude oil and is an essential material in infrastructure development projects due to its excellent binding and waterproofing properties.

Bitumen No. 30 Applications

1. Used For underground moisture, waterproofing works
2. Used For nuclear power engineering, pipeline engineering, bottom anticorrosion, asphalt production of the production
3. Used For waterproofing membrane, moisture-proof paper production, etc.
4. Used For Anti-corrosion paint and waterproof production
5. Used for road and bridge caulking use

Bitumen Number 30, also referred to as Penetration Grade 30/40, is a versatile material with various applications in construction and industry. Here are its primary applications:

  1. Road and Highway Construction
Pavement for High Traffic Roads: Its hardness makes it ideal for roads that experience heavy vehicle loads and high traffic volumes, ensuring long-term durability and resistance to deformation.
Highway and Expressway Surfacing: Used in the construction of main roads, highways, and expressways due to its ability to withstand temperature variations and heavy use.
  2. Airport Runways
Aircraft Runways: Bitumen Number 30 is applied in airport runway construction, providing strength and stability to handle the heavy loads of aircraft takeoff and landing.
  3. Industrial and Heavy-Duty Flooring
Industrial Areas: Used in flooring for industrial settings, Bitumen 30/40 provides a durable, impact-resistant surface capable of withstanding heavy machinery and equipment.
  4. Waterproofing Applications
Dams, Canals, and Reservoirs: Thanks to its excellent waterproofing properties, Bitumen No. 30 is used in water containment structures to prevent water seepage.
Roofing Materials: It is also commonly used in the production of roofing felt and membranes, ensuring long-term waterproofing protection for buildings.
  5. Marine and Coastal Infrastructure
Saltwater-Exposed Structures: Its resistance to moisture and saltwater makes it suitable for marine applications such as docks, piers, and seawalls.
  6. Railway Ballast Coating
Used in coating railway ballast to protect it from water and enhance stability, especially in areas exposed to moisture or harsh environmental conditions.
