Bitumen AC30 – Description
Bitumen AC30 is a high-viscosity asphalt cement classified under the viscosity grading system (AC = Asphalt Cement). The “30” indicates a viscosity of approximately 3000 poises at 60°C, making it harder and more resistant to deformation than lower-grade binders like AC10 or AC20. It is specifically designed for very heavy traffic loads and extremely hot climates.
Technical Specifications (Typical):
- Grade: AC30
- Viscosity @ 60°C: 3000 ± 600 poises
- Softening Point: ~55–65°C
- Penetration @ 25°C: Lower than AC20 (harder)
- Ductility @ 25°C: > 100 cm
- Flash Point (COC): > 230°C
- Solubility in Trichloroethylene: > 99%
Typical Applications of Supplier Bitumen AC30
- Highways and expressways in tropical or desert regions
- Heavy-duty pavements, such as port roads and industrial zones
- Airport runways and taxiways with frequent aircraft movements
- Urban interchanges, roundabouts, and bus rapid transit (BRT) corridors
- Base and surface layers in high-performance asphalt mix designs

Difference Between Bitumen AC30 and AC40
Bitumen AC30 and Bitumen AC40 are both viscosity-graded asphalt cements, classified based on their viscosity at 60°C. The key difference lies in their viscosity, stiffness, and application under extreme loading and temperature conditions.
- AC30 is a high-stiffness binder used in very heavy-duty pavements and hot regions.
- AC40 is a super-high stiffness binder, used for specialized projects requiring maximum rut resistance and long-term durability under extreme stress.
Packing and Handling
To ensure product longevity and performance, follow best practices for packaging, handling, and storage. Secure packaging, typically in drums or tankers, maintains product integrity during transportation and storage. Safe handling procedures, using appropriate equipment, minimize spills and accidents. Proper storage conditions, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, preserve properties and extend shelf life.
